01 — Campaign Background

Deep into the depths where light barely penetrates, an idea was hatched; Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Theatrical would form an unbreakable alliance. Their partnership greater than the sum of their parts. Their quest to serve global DC fans with a truly integrated campaign across fan favorites: content, access, product, and exciting partnerships. While the journey was long and many challenges uncovered, they were ultimately successful in their quest.

02 — WEBSITE INTEGRATION

For the first time in history there was one online destination for both Consumer Products and Theatrical. Through this united experience, fans were able to consume even more Aquaman content. From behind-the-scenes videos and movie trailers to a retail shop featuring product reveals with film talent, this one stop destination provided fans with an all-in-one Aquaman experience.

03 — Talent Collaboration

Aquaman talent also wanted in on the fun!

To celebrate a Mattel and Amazon pre-sale, we teamed up with actress Amber Heard to unbox her Mera Action Dolls alongside DC Kids Host, Analei. Amber discussed the importance of strong female super heroes and how they help girls see themselves as leaders.

Orm stunt double Craig Henningsen taught the DC Kids how to film an action scene using Aquaman’s trident. Not only does this video feature toy tridents from Mattel, but it also features the real trident from the Aquaman movie.

We announced the pre-sale of Sideshow’s limited edition Aquaman statue with a behind-the-scenes interview featuring James Wan. James can hardly believe the collectible’s life-like detail!

04 — DIGITAL CONTENT

We brought Aquaman products to life using augmented reality, stop motion, and animated shorts.  This content made an even bigger splash when Theatrical and partner channels shared it with their audiences.

The backdrop of Atlantis was the perfect canvas to immerse fans in Aquaman’s world.

05 — GENERATING PRESS BUZZ

The message continued with notable press pickups in Nerdist and HuffPost, reaching avid DC fans as well as parents and lifestyle/millennial audiences.

05 — The Results

The Aquaman consumer products campaign was a swimming success across content, partnerships and ultimately sell through. Retailers reported strong product interest and sell-through across categories.
